Profile Fixed Hub Axles

We offer two axle styles for Profile Fixed Hubs.

Our True 3/8" (10mm) axles are directly inspired by the axles in our famed BMX Mini hubs. They feature an oversized aluminum center axle, and heat treated Chrome-Moly or Titanium 3/8 axle bolts. They are as strong an axle as you're going to need for a Fixed Gear hubset. They also feature polished aluminum cone spacers with hardened steel knurled washers pressed on them to firmly bite into your frame or fork.

True 3/8 axles will fit almost any frame with no modifications necessary. Some front forks, particularly road and track specific forks, may have dropout slots that are too small for the True 3/8 axles. They will fit in any BMX style fork, such as FBM, Volume, Charge, or Milwaukee, as well. You might have to do some filing or grinding on other forks to get the True 3/8 axles to fit- measure your fork prior to ordering. Filing a dropout will void most if not all warranties, and is potentially dangerous. Be very careful, and if you don't know what you're doing, DON'T DO IT YOURSELF. Take it to a trained bike mechanic, he can tell you if it's safe to modify your fork. If there's any doubt in your mind, DON'T DO IT. If your fork is made of steel, you should be ok to file the dropouts. Aluminum dropouts should be filed with more caution, making sure there is enough material to properly support the axle and washer. Carbon Fibre dropouts SHOULD NOT be filed.

I cannot emphasize enough that care must be taken when making modifications of this sort to your fork. You just need to file a bit of material off the side of the dropout slot. Don't take any material from the top of the slot.

True 3/8 axles are available with all new hubs, and as an upgrade for your existing Profile Fixed hub.

Profile's Standard axles were originally offered when the Fixed Hubs were introduced. They are based on the axle design used on the Madera Pilot front hub, but using a 5/16" bolt instead of a 3/8". They have different washers to fit front forks and rear dropouts. They are lighter than the True 3/8", but not quite as strong.

The Aluminum Cone Spacers are knurled, and thread into the aluminum center axle. Use a 3/16" SAE allen key to tighten or loosen the cone spacers, and a 1/4" SAE to tighten the axle bolts.
